A Local Food Initiative

The Food & Growers Association in Southeastern Indiana was formed to respond to the need of farmers, parents and health professionals who see the connections between community health improvement, sustainable agriculture and a viable local economy in Southeastern Indiana. FGA is an initiative to build a sustainable local market for foods produced in and around Southeastern Indiana via education and networking. FGA is promoting a local food system to enable area farmers to market their products to individual consumers and institutional buyers including schools, hospitals, and restaurants.

The Food and Growers Association has been hosting its annual winter conference since 2007. The event features speakers and presentations for both growers of and eaters of great local foods. This is a day-long event that includes lunch and a vendor market. Our event gets bigger and better each year with over 100 attendees the last two years. It is always held the first Saturday in February. Don’t miss this education and networking opportunity. Farmers can meet other farmers doing new and interesting things on their farms or discuss the latest in marketing or ag technology. Eaters, meet the farmers who grow your food, learn about the newest gardening trends, and much more!

The 2020 Conference is Saturday, February 1.  Save the date and check back in January for details and to purchase tickets for the 2020 Winter Conference!
