Ripley County Bicentennial Celebration
April 15, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm| Free
Ripley County will be celebrating it’s Bicentennial on April 15th from 1-5pm at the Ripley County Fairgrounds Park in Osgood, IN. Join us for an afternoon of celebrating all things Ripley County. We’ll have an art gallery featuring Ripley County artists past and present; a “Taste of Ripley County” where you can sample some of the best food from local restaurants, wine, and craft brew Ripley County has to offer; a vending area featuring items handmade or grown in Ripley County; displays and demonstrations from some of our local clubs including the Southeastern Indiana Woodturners and SE F.A.R.M. Club, our historical societies and museums, a quilt display by the Homemakers Club and more.
We will have family and kids activities including Pioneer Days and Kids Discovery Factory activities. Our local high schools will have choral presentations throughout the afternoon. There will also be a presentation of a plaque from the DAR honoring Revolutionary War soldiers.
Come out an vote for the best of show for the Ripley County 4th Grader’s Map Project. We challenged our 4th graders in each school to work together on a project. Six schools took up the challenge and will be competing for the best of show. Each school was given a wooden cut-out in the shape of Ripley County and asked to design it however they want with the help of their history and art teachers. The maps will be on display at some of the local historical societies, museums, and libraries during the month of March through April 14; they will then be taken to the Fairgrounds for the April 15th celebration and voted on.
