Batesville, the northernmost city, has the largest population, of about 6,000, and has connections to Interstate 74, SR 46, SR 129, and SR 229. Good restaurants and nice shops are plentiful in the German-flavored city. Cultural events are held in Batesville throughout the year, many at Liberty Park.
It is home to internationally-known Hillenbrand Industries, Batesville Casket Company, Batesville Tool & Die, Mary Helen’s B&B, The Sherman Biergarten and Bier Hall, and Weberding’s Carving Shop.
