The Sunman History Museum is a uniquely accessible, local history museum located in the Town Hall on the north side of Sunman, opposite the fire station.
The museum features the original 1856 plat of Sunman, the 1930’s jail, artifacts of early pioneer families, including the Sunmans, a map showing the route taken by Indiana’s 83rd Infantry Regiment from Vicksburg to Savannah, and a display showing the origins of local church-related communities emigrating from specific locations in Germany, France, Britain and Switzerland.
There are also memorabilia from local businesses, a collection of photos from all 50 Sunman High School graduating classes, high school yearbooks, earlier grade school photos with names attached, displays about Morgan’s raid, early fashion, uniforms, toys, the railroad and the fire of 1905. Admission is free.
